A Small-Scale Technology Certificate (STC) is a tradeable certificate representing 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity generation. The number of STCs is calculated based on the system capacity (kW), the location solar radiation zone, and the number of years remaining until 2030. Larger systems in sunnier zones generate more STCs.
Power Group SA processes payments within 0 to 2 business days of agreeing on the trade. This is one of the fastest payment turnarounds in the industry, helping solar retailers and installers maintain healthy cash flow.
Registered STCs have been formally registered through the Clean Energy Regulator’s REC Registry and assigned a unique serial number. Un-registered STCs have been created but not yet registered. Power Group SA trades both types, giving you greater flexibility at different stages of the STC lifecycle.

Under the SRES, the deeming period reduces by one year every January 1st. Systems installed in later years generate fewer STCs because fewer years remain until 2030. It is important for customers to install eligible systems sooner to maximise their STC entitlements.
